EXCLUSIVE: Adivi Sesh Reveals His Favourite MAJOR Shot, Upcoming Projects & Marriage Plans!

Heartthrob Adivi Sesh‘s ‘Major’ is having a successful run at theatres, having crossed over 60 crores worldwide.

Based on the 26/11 hero Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Major is a perfect combo of action and patriotism without being jingoistic!

For the unversed, South actor Adivi Sesh makes his Bollywood debut with Major; which is shot in both Telugu and Hindi. The talented actor is also the writer for this pan-Indian movie and is receiving rave reviews for his performance and screenplay!

In a candid chat with Instant Bollywood, Sesh revealed a thrilling behind-the-scenes story of his favourite Major shot which resulted in a serious injury. Catch him talking about his next projects (remake of an Oscar-winning film) and his marriage plans…..

Major must have been very physically gruelling to shoot? What was your favourite shot? And did you get injured on the sets while shooting any stunt?

Adivi Sesh: The most memorable shot was when I was jumping (escaping) from the 5th floor to dangle onto the fire hose. During the 1st time, I missed the hose and banged right into the wall and injured my knee. It still hurts to this day!

All the other minor injuries are gone but my knee continues troubling me. (Get well soon, I say)

You’ve written Major and a couple of other movies and also dabbled in direction right?

Adivi Sesh: I had directed at the start of my career but I realised I’m not very good at it. I’ve had 5 successful hits in a row in the South; out of which 3 are my own stories. Goodachari… Kshanam which was remade as Baaghi 2 in Hindi. In fact, it was quite a big blockbuster, it’s been remade in like 5 languages.

You’re mostly associated with binge-able slick thriller-type movies. So in writing, what are your future prospects? What kind of stories do you want to tell?

Adivi Sesh: Whatever appeals to my heart! Also, I don’t think I’m just all about thrillers. I feel Goodachari is very different from Kshanam. The former had a Mission Impossible vibe while the latter was more of an emotional suspense thriller.

Will we see you in an out-n-out rom-com?

Adivi Sesh: Of course, I do intend to do that. But I was very happy to do a great, 45-min love story in Major!

Are you going to make a Goodachari franchise? How many films can we expect?

Adivi Sesh: Yes! You can expect at least 3 instalments for Goodachari ….it might even go till 7…

Going forward, would you want your films to have a pan-Indian approach?

Adivi Sesh: Out of my next 4 movies, 2 movies are going to be shot in both Telugu and Hindi.

One of them is going to be the remake of an Oscar-winning film. The original Hollywood studio that produced it is going to back it here in India as well. They are partnering with a legendary Hyderabad studio. (Which film is that? – I whisper. Sesh giggles and replies he’s not revealing that)

Will you do an out-n-out Bollywood film?

Adivi Sesh: Now, what is an out-n-out Bollywood film, huh? I think Major was that! Every scene, every dialogue was properly shot in Hindi and Telugu. We’ve basically made 2 films at once. The texture, the way of acting, the way a scene is written…it’s quite different in both versions. Sometimes, the punchline comes first in Telugu and it’s the opposite in Hindi.

Do you think anything could get lost in translation in this case then?

Adivi Sesh: No, because we had different writers for both Hindi & Telugu. I had the story and screenplay, now that doesn’t get lost in translation. We looked at it as two different films.

So yeah, I feel I’ve already done a Bollywood film.

Who would be your dream director to work with in Bollywood?

Adivi Sesh: I love Bhansali Sir’s work. Loved Black, Padmaavat….Bajirao not so much. (Maybe a role like Khilji, I ask. He comments that he would love to do something like that)

RAPID FIRE ROUND!

A memento you took from Major sets? Or wish you’d taken?

AS: Wish I’d taken Sandeep Sir’s real glasses from the museum. But I didn’t want to because they belong to Uncle and Amma.

Your comfort movie?

AS: Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya! I love it! (That’s…unexpected, I say. He smiles and says he puts it on whenever he’s depressed)

A movie that made you cry?

AS: Black. (An old choice? Nothing new that made you cry? – I ask. He slyly replies that a lot of recent movies have made him cry because they’re so BAD! Hehehe)

Last Bollywood movie that you really liked?

Dangal.
