Is Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gorkha’ movie shelved?
Gorkha was announced in 2021 – the biopic of war hero Major General Ian Cardozo and his heroics in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.
As per reports, the Superstar decided to back out of the project after the ‘authenticity’ of the story was being doubted. Apparently, a few veteran sources from General Cardozo’s unit had contacted the team with a different version of the incident.
“Akshay has the utmost respect for the armed forces and does not want to associate with a story that may have a shadow of doubt,” a source revealed to the media.
Producer Aanand L Rai also confirmed the development –
“It is true. We are not making this film for now. There are technical issues. There are factual clarifications that need to be made.”
Akshay Kumar continues to have a jam-packed line-up with Selfiee, OMG 2, Soorarai Pottru Remake, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Capsule Gill and Jolly LLB 3.
