Urvashi Rautela had claimed that she was cast in Parveen Babi’s biopic and a photocall launch of the project was to be done at Cannes 2023.
However, insider sources labelled the report about Urvashi headlining Parveen Babi’s biopic as FAKE NEWS.
A source told HT that the supposed makers of the film were absent at Cannes and that there was no buzz about the Parveen Babi biopic in the trade circuit.
“It is bogus news. There is no such project being made. A photocall launch without anyone from the maker’s side is just not possible. So, Urvashi was there all by herself, there was no producer, writer, director… So what is this photocall launch? It shows how much truth is in her claim. She has not even revealed the names of the makers. She could have said that she wants to do, or is thinking of doing, but alleging that it is being made without the name of the team is definitely not credible,” an insider source commented.
Another insider chimed in – “Something like a biopic on Parveen Babi will only get announced once the production work has begun. And that too usually comes from the director or production house’s end. Urvashi’s claim is only to get some limelight.”

In response to the fake casting claims, Urvashi Rautela shared a pic on her Instagram post – which seemed to indicate that the Parveen Babi biopic would be directed by Wasim S Khan, with script by Dhiraj Mishra.
“Bollywood Failed #ParveenBabi but i will make you proud #PB ~ UR ॐ नमः शिवाय
Trust the magic of new beginnings 🪄” – she wrote in the caption.
