Vicky Kaushal is rumoured to have backed out of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe film.
Meanwhile, the director has issued a statement regarding the casting update.
It was previously reported that Vicky was supposed to essay the role of a cop in the third installment of the Singham franchise – Singham Again. Reportedly, he came on board to play the younger brother of Bajirao Singham (play by Ajay Devgn).
A media report claimed that Vicky walked out Singham Again as the dates were clashing with his upcoming movie, legendary Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj biopic – Chhava.
“Vicky Kaushal was very keen to do a front-footed mass film for Rohit Shetty and had even decided on his look for Singham Again. However, the dates of shooting for Singham Again are clashing with the shooting dates of Chhava. He has a certain look from the period era in Chhava and that can’t be replicated in a modern film like Singham Again. After making all attempts to set things up for Singham Again, he couldn’t and informed his decision to Rohit Shetty. Being a thorough professional, Rohit too understood his plight.”

Previously, during the promotions for Cirkus, Rohit revealed that Deepika Padukone will play a cop in Singham Again along with Ajay. Recently, the Khatron Ke Khiladi host clarified that the movie in question is currently in the pre-production stage.
The statement read –
“There have been many speculations doing rounds about the starcast in Rohit Shetty’s next directorial, Singham Again. The film is currently in pre-production. We kindly request the media to refrain from making any premature announcements at this stage. We will be making an official starcast announcement soon.”
