Haddi Movie Review; WHAT Do We Think?

Akshat Ajay Sharma made his directorial debut with this noir revenge-drama. He has done a decent job in presenting the sympathetic side of the trans community in a fine manner. The movie starts off a bit slow but after 30 – 40 minutes, the story picks up pace and becomes gritty.

However, there are times when you might feel that screenplay is lagging. Barring the soulful track, Beparda by Rekha Bharadwaj, the rest of the music album doesn’t stand out.

Haddi rides high on performances. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has yet again proved his acting mettle. He is an actor par excellence. From his character transformation to the way he adapted the body language of a transgender to his expressions… everything is on point.

Nawazuddin has portrayed his character (transgender) sensitively. From love, anger to pain, he let his eyes do most of the acting.

Nawazuddin & Anurag; Haddi movie review
Nawazuddin Anurag Haddi movie review

Anurag Kashyap as the cold-blooded politician is confident and powerful. He performance will entertain you and at the same time, will send chills down your spine. Besides directing films, he should definitely pick up more acting roles.

Zeeshan Ayyub & Nawazuddin in Haddi
Zeeshan Ayyub Nawazuddin in Haddi

Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub’s role as Harika’s lover Irfan Rizvi is short but effective. However, the chemistry between Zeeshan and Siddiqui is quite bland. Ila Arun as Revathi Amma is endearing.

Overall, the supporting cast lend a decent support to the narrative of the movie.

HIT Or MISS?

The Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer released yesterday on Zee5. The movie will make you feel emotional, angry, fearful and overwhelmed. It is worth a watch if you are strong enough to digest the blood and gruesome violence it offers.
