Starring Vikrant Massey in the lead, the film hit theatres yesterday, 27th October 2023.
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 12th Fail is based on Anurag Pathak’s bestselling novel of the same name.
The real-life story depicts the journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma (played by Vikrant) hailing from a small town in Chambal – who fearlessly embraced the idea of restarting his academic journey and reclaiming his destiny at a place where millions of students attempt for the world’s toughest competitive exam – UPSC.
12th Fail Movie 1st Day Box Office Collection –
Given the limited shows, 12th Fail surprises everyone with a good start at the box office. The movie has been receiving positive reviews overall from the critics.
According to Sacnilk, the Vikrant Massey starrer raked in Rs 1 CRORE on 1st day at the box office. The strong-word-of-mouth is expected to give the film a push over the weekend.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film collected Rs 75 lakhs on National chains (PVRInox, Cinepolis) by 10 pm on its opening day. He also stated that the film picked up pace later after a slow start.
12th Fail had a box office clash with Kangana Ranaut’s aerial-actioner Tejas.
Talking about the film, Vikrant said in an interview –
“The film is not just about the Hindi language, but the film mainly talks about restarting life and its struggle. The common perception is that if one fails in academics then they will fail in life. I don’t agree with that. Yes, education is a gateway to a better life but only academic success is not success. If you have failed then you can restart and still achieve your dream.”
