Kadak Singh Movie Review; Plotline:

AK Srivastava (played by Pankaj Tripathi) is an officer who works at the Department of Financial Crimes (DFC) in Kolkata.  He is referred to as ‘Kadak Singh’ by his children – daughter Sakshi (played by Sanjana Sanghi) and son Aditya (played by Varun Buddhadev) – due to his strict and rude nature.

One day, Srivastava wakes up in a hospital as he suffered from retrograde amnesia after an alleged failed suicide attempt. Meanwhile, he only remembers certain things from his past. Lying in the hospital bed, he uncovers the reason behind his condition while trying to recollect his life accurately.

What happens next form the rest of the story.

Kadak Singh Movie Review; WHAT Do We Think?

Kadak Singh is a below-average thriller film and it doesn’t give you that edge-of-the-seat hook one would like to watch in an investigative thriller. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s, who was the man behind films such as Pink and Lost, direction is not up to the mark.

The movie starts off on an intriguing note and the first half is gripping, while the second half falls flat and the plot becomes quite predictable and confusing. The cinematography is pretty good. Avik Mukhopadhyay has done a decent job in capturing the locales of Kolkata.

Pankaj Tripathi’s performance is effortless as always. He makes the whole film watchable. Tripathi has seamlessly transitioned from a ‘khadoos’ father to someone who gradually starts forming a relationship with his daughter. There is nothing to complain about his portrayal as Kadak Singh.

Sanjana Sanghi does her part well as Kadak Singh’s daughter. On the other hand, Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan as Srivastava’s girlfriend Naina made her presence felt with her limited screentime. However, her relationship with Kadak Singh lacks depth.

Parvathy Thiruvothu as the nurse is a delight to watch. Her scenes with Pankaj Tripathi are quite entertaining.

The concept of the movie seems interesting but fails at the execution. The songs are forgettable. However, Shantanu Moitro’s background score adds to the intriguing factor of the plot.
