Amar Singh Chamkila trailer out now! Starring Diljit Dosanjh & Parineeti Chopra in the lead, the highly-anticipated trailer was dropped earlier today (March 28).
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, is a musical drama that revolves around the life of the late singer Amar Singh Chamkila who was called as ‘Elvis Of Punjab’. The biographical musical will have a direct-to-digital release on Netflix.

On Thursday, the makers of Amar Singh Chamkila dropped the much-awaited trailer of their film. Diljit Dosanjh plays the titular role, Parineeti Chopra is seen as Chamkila’s wife and his singing partner, Amarjot Kaur.
The trailer offers a glimpse of the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses – Amar Singh Chamkila, who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the ’80s due to the sheer power of his music.

Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were mysteriously assassinated on 8 March 1988. It was speculated that Sikh militants were behind the murders.
Sharing the trailer on Instagram, the streaming giant wrote, “Tadkila, Bhadkila, Rangeela- woh hai Amar Singh Chamkila ✨❤️Amar Singh Chamkila, premieres on 12 April, only on Netflix!”

For the unversed, Diljit and Parineeti both have lent their voices to some of the original songs from the musical album. Music maestro AR Rahman has once again joined hands with Imtiaz Ali and lyricist Irshad Kamil to compose music for this film.
All the songs were recorded live on locations capturing the rawness of each moment. Diljit and Parineeti have also sung live in the Akhadas.
