Salman Khan’s much-anticipated Eid release, Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, hit the big screens on Sunday. But did it live up to the hype?
Sikandar Day 1 Collection; Salman Khan Starrer Collects 30 Crores!
Despite the festive release, Sikandar managed to collect only ₹30.06 crore on its opening day (India Biz | Nett BOC), which is surprisingly low compared to Salman’s previous holiday blockbusters.
For reference, here’s how his past holiday releases have fared:
- ⭐ Tiger 3 (2023, Diwali) – ₹43 crore
- ⭐ Bharat (2019, Eid) – ₹42.30 crore
- ⭐ Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015, Diwali) – ₹40.35 crore
- ⭐ Sultan (2016, Eid) – ₹36.54 crore
- ⭐ Tiger Zinda Hai (2017, Christmas) – ₹34.10 crore
Looking at these numbers, it’s clear that Sikandar has had a lukewarm start. However, there’s still hope for a boost in collections due to the ongoing Eid celebrations.

But let’s talk about the bigger issue – the film itself. Sikandar feels painfully outdated and uninspired. Salman Khan, who has always been known for his larger-than-life presence, seems to be sleepwalking through this one. His performance lacks energy, enthusiasm, and the charm that once made his films a guaranteed hit. The action sequences are lackluster, the script feels half-baked, and there’s hardly any emotional depth to keep audiences invested.
It’s clear that the makers were banking solely on Salman’s star power to carry this film, but even that doesn’t seem to be enough this time. With audiences becoming more selective and demanding fresh content, Sikandar might struggle to sustain momentum beyond the Eid weekend.
Can the film recover in the coming days? That remains to be seen. But for now, Sikandar is off to a disappointing start.
