Armaan shared that the bullying didn’t start because of his family background. It was actually because he was already in the spotlight at a young age. He was appearing on the popular music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and quickly gaining fame. That kind of attention didn’t sit well with some of the other students at school.

“The main reason was that at that time I was on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa so I was pretty famous. At school, all the girls and the attention, it was a lot,” Armaan said.

He explained how jealousy played a big role in how he was treated. The attention he got, especially from girls, seemed to trigger a negative reaction from other boys. That led to a lot of bullying, and slowly, Armaan started to feel very isolated.

“The other guys were kinda jealous of that. There used to be a lot of bullying. I had few friends at school. I just started to feel more and more alienated. I began focusing more on my work and studies. I did have friendships, but it wasn’t the kind of friendship I wanted. It was more like, yeah, we hang out with Armaan, we know him, but it wasn’t that deep kind of friendship — where you say ‘this is my gang’,” he shared.
I Still Have Childhood Trauma From The Phase I Was Bullied – Says Armaan Malik
As his career in music picked up, the bullying only got worse. Armaan reached a point where he considered walking away from singing altogether, thinking that maybe it would make the teasing stop. It was a heartbreaking thought, but it shows just how much pressure he was under.
“There was this phase where I was like, I should quit singing and music because maybe if I do, those guys will stop teasing and bullying me,” he said.
Thankfully, his mother stepped in and helped him see things differently. She reminded him of his talent and the unique edge he had that others didn’t.
Even today, Armaan admits that those painful experiences have left a lasting impact on him. The bullying he faced as a child still lives in his memory.
“I think it was pretty tough as a kid to understand all these things, and even today, I have a lot of childhood trauma from the phase when I was bullied.”
Armaan’s story is a strong reminder that fame isn’t always as easy as it looks. Behind the spotlight, there are often unseen struggles.
