Sooraj’s roots are firmly grounded in a childhood full of fun, chaos, and the kind of memories that feel warm and familiar to most Indian households. Talking about his early years, Sooraj said –
“I was an extremely naughty kid. I troubled my mom a lot. I wouldn’t eat on time, I wouldn’t wake up on time. I hated going to school, I’d mess with all the alarms at home.”
It’s not hard to imagine a little Sooraj running around the house, causing playful mischief. His energy was clearly always high, just not focused on studies.

He admitted, “I wasn’t interested much in books or studies, but I was really into sports. I liked football. I used to be one of the fastest runners at school.”
Sooraj first went to Learners Academy and later joined St Stanislaus High School. He said – “It was an all-boys school, so we had a lot of fun.”

When asked what he misses the most about his childhood, his voice softened. “My grandparents. We were very close. I grew up spending time with them every single day.”
There’s something so touching and real about his memories. He shared how his grandparents had a strong influence on his upbringing. Here’s how they raised him –
“Just the right things, a simple life, very middle-class family. They came from that. Simple things in life like simple food, those days when you had Parle-G and tea. When your grandpa teaches you how to make a boat and put it in the rainwater, stuff like that.”
Even though he grew up surrounded by the glamour of Bollywood, it’s clear that the heart of his childhood lies in small joys and simple values. Boats made out of paper, tea-time snacks, and lessons from grandparents… it all paints a picture of a boy raised with love, warmth, and balance.
Today, Sooraj may be carving his own path in the film industry, but the memories of his younger days still remain close to his heart. And perhaps, it’s this simple, grounded upbringing that makes him who he is today.
