Unlike many film crews who drift apart once a project ends, the Fukrey cast stayed connected over the years. Ali shared that he often chats with Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, and Manjot Singh. He also meets Pulkit and Kriti regularly. Their hangouts are usually casual gatherings at someone’s home.
In the film industry, that kind of long-term bond is unusual. Ali admitted, “Very rare to find on a project. Usually, we finish and move on.”

So what made this one stand out?
“We just became friends, deep friends. I even married one of them,” Ali said with a smile, referring to his now-wife Richa Chadha.

It all began on the sets of Fukrey. While the team was bonding, something special was quietly taking shape between Ali and Richa. There was a little nervousness, a bit of early courtship, and a simple wish to become good friends.
“And with Richa, there was a bit of courtship happening. So I was very nervous. I just wanted us to become friends. That’s where our friendship began,” Ali revealed.
That early connection eventually turned into a deep romance. Years later, it led to their marriage. Fans have followed their journey with affection ever since.

Fukrey Director Told Excel To Cast Ali Fazal For Mirzapur
But Fukrey didn’t just bring Richa into his life. It also introduced him to key people behind the scenes. Ali first met director Gurmeet Singh and filmmaker Mrighdeep Singh Lamba while working on the film. He revealed a lesser-known detail about how this connection led to one of his biggest roles.
“I first met Gurmeet on that set too. I met Mrighdeep Lamba as well. If I’m not wrong, Mrighdeep Lamba was the one who told Gurmeet to cast me. Told Excel to cast me for Mirzapur.”
This fun bit of trivia shows how one film helped shape the next phase of his career.
“Mrigh directed us in Fukrey. This is actually the first time I’m saying this. Gurmeet told me that,” he added.
Ali also spoke warmly about actor Pankaj Tripathi, who has been a core part of the Fukrey universe. “And with Pankaj ji, the bond was there right from the start,” he said.
In the end, Fukrey gave Ali more than a popular franchise. It gave him strong friendships, meaningful work relationships, and a love story that started quietly on set and grew into something lasting.
For Ali Fazal, Fukrey wasn’t just a film. It was the beginning of everything.
