That’s exactly what happened with rising star Aneet Padda, who bagged the female lead role in Mohit Suri’s hit film Saiyaara, all thanks to a surprising savior…. Ahaan Panday.

In an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, director Mohit Suri shared the behind-the-scenes story of how Aneet got cast, and let’s just say, her first impression didn’t exactly go as planned.
“With Aneet, I must tell you that it went disastrously bad when she met me but it was Ahaan who actually was saving the scenario that day and he was there with me when we met her,” Mohit Suri revealed.
Now imagine walking into an audition and having it crash and burn. That’s what happened to Aneet. But just when things were about to spiral, Ahaan Panday, who was already part of the project, stepped in to rescue the moment.

“Ahaan tried to distract me. He was the one who told me ‘give her another chance. I’m telling you she’s good, I’m telling you she’s good, I’ve done a scene with her’. And then I call up Aneet and I said, ‘You know, you guys have a problem. Y’all are thinking I like something. Please come in what you think you are’,” Mohit added.
Turns out, Ahaan had already worked on a scene with Aneet and was confident she had what it takes. And his persistence paid off!
The second meeting was a game-changer.
“She came in a white shirt and jeans the next time, white loose shirt and jeans. And I was like ‘this is it’. If you noticed the trailer, this is that kurta and jeans, this kind of look. Her look, lost and clumsy. And that’s what she is. You know, I think there is this huge burden that people think they tell you what you’re supposed to be like, and that’s not what filmmakers are looking for,” he shared.
Aneet showed up looking simple, natural and completely herself, and that’s what sealed the deal. Her authenticity struck a chord with the director, and soon enough, she was on board for Saiyaara.
