Rating: 3/5

Cast: Dhanush, Kriti Sanon

Director: Aanand L Rai

Storyline:

Shankar (Dhanush) is your classic campus bad boy… hot-headed, violent, and impossible to ignore. Enter Mukti (Kriti Sanon), a bright psychology PhD student convinced she can cure his rage.

She makes him the case study of her thesis project, and he agrees on one wild condition: she has to be his girlfriend. Mukti treats it as work; he treats it as love. Naturally, things get messy fast, turning into an intense, obsessive almost-relationship that blows up both their lives. The fallout from this relationship leaves scars that follow them for years.

Cut to the future – Mukti is now a psychologist hiding an alcohol problem, while the feisty Shankar has somehow transformed into an Indian Air Force pilot. When they cross paths again, the past is still very much in the room. They are older, damaged, and still battling demons, and the question is whether they can finally find salvation together or remain two beautiful disasters colliding on repeat!

Tere Ishk Mein Movie Review:

Tere Ishk Mein is a study in contradictions, brilliant in parts and frustrating in others.

Acting is the film’s strongest card. Dhanush brings that perfect mix of anger, swagger and full-on lafanga energy. He has these stunning, almost electric moments, whether he is exploding in rage or quietly breaking apart. This role could have easily slipped into full cringe or become too toxic to watch, but he somehow balances it just right.

Kriti Sanon matches him beat for beat. She is bubbly and sharp in the early scenes and then believable as a broken, alcoholic woman in the second half. Their chemistry is raw and natural, which keeps you invested even when the script takes a nosedive in the 2nd half.

Tere Ishk Mein Movie Review:

The first half moves with real momentum. It is edgy, tense and surprisingly fun despite the toxicity at its core. Pacing is tight and the film hooks you without apologising. The problem begins in the third act. Plot choices unravel the central conflict and Mukti’s motivations stop making sense. The emotional logic breaks down and scenes that should land instead feel bizarre. As a result the film loses focus and emotional payoff.

The soundtrack is a mixed bag. The title track, Tere Ishk Mein, is downright hypnotic and Awaara Angaara is hauntingly beautiful with a real emotional pull. The rest of the score, though, feels surprisingly forgettable, especially considering it’s an A R Rahman album. Production design and cinematography often lift scenes, but they cannot rescue an uneven script.

The ending is a letdown, though the final emotional push from Dhanush and Kriti brings back some honesty and heat. In short, the film is worth watching for the powerhouse performances and a sharp, gripping first half, but the wobbly third act stops it from reaching its full potential. Still, this one will stick with you for the performances alone. If you go in for an imperfect, emotional ride, it might surprise you!
