War 2 movie release date has been announced.
The sequel marks the sixth film in YRF’s spy universe after Ek The Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan will reprise his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal – a RAW agent who went rogue – in the sequel.
This time, he will lock horns with Jr NTR. War 2 features Kiara Advani as the leading lady.
Reports about War sequel were doing rounds for quite a while. Hrithik Roshan appeared as Kabir in the post credit scene of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi starrer Tiger 3 and put a rest to all speculations.
Without an official announcement, the makers successfully piqued the audience’s attention of War 2 through Tiger 3.
War 2 Movie Release Date:
In cinemas on Independence Day weekend 2025, i.e., 14th August (Thursday).
Announcing the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote –
“#BreakingNews… YRF ANNOUNCES ‘WAR 2’ RELEASE DATE: INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND 2025… The sixth film from #YRFSpyUniverse – #War2 – now has a release date… Get ready for mayhem at the #Boxoffice on 14 Aug 2025 [Thursday]… #AyanMukerji directs the film that’s produced by #YRF.”
War 2 Shooting Updates:
As per reports, RRR actor Jr NTR will play the antagonist in the sequel. The first schedule was completed in Spain in October 2023. The second schedule will be filmed in Abu Dhabi reportedly.
It is reported that the actors will begin their shoot in February 2024.
“NTR Jr is currently shooting for his 30th film, directed by Koratala Siva, and will then begin his first schedule for this film. Aditya Chopra and Ayan have planned a massive action entry shot for him in the film. Shooting for the portions involving Hrithik and him will commence in February in Mumbai over a month-long schedule. The dramatic portions will be canned first, and will be followed with action sequences.”
For the unversed, the prequel, War, was directed by Siddhanrth Anand and featured Hrithik, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor.
