Mardaani 3 has officially stormed into theatres and has started its box office run on a pretty strong note. Rani Mukerji’s fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy is back, and audiences clearly showed up for her over the opening weekend.

The film opened with a solid ₹4 crore on Day 1, making it the biggest opening in the Mardaani franchise so far. For context, Mardaani opened at ₹3.46 crore and Mardaani 2 at ₹3.80 crore. So yes, Mardaani 3 has officially taken the crown as the highest opener of the franchise.

After a decent Friday, Mardaani 3 saw a strong jump on Saturday, followed by its best day on Sunday, which is always a great sign. It has raked in over ₹17.25 crore in its 1st weekend. The steady growth suggests good word of mouth. Check out the collection figures –

DayCollection
Friday₹4.00 cr
Saturday₹6.00 cr
Sunday₹7.25 cr
Total₹17.25 cr

Mardaani 3 is currently up against Border 2, a full-blown patriotic juggernaut that’s pulling massive crowds with its large-scale action and mass appeal. Despite that, Mardaani 3 has managed to carve out its own space, all thanks to Rani’s screen presence.

With a healthy opening weekend total of ₹17.25 crore, Mardaani 3 has laid a solid foundation at the box office. If the film holds well on weekdays, it could be on track for a respectable and steady run.

About Mardaani 3:

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the film stars Rani Mukerji, Mallika Prasad, Janki Bodiwala, and Prajesh Kashyap. This time, Shivani is drawn into a deeply unsettling case involving the disappearance of several pre-pubescent girls. Her investigation leads her to Amma, played by Mallika Prasad, a chilling beggar mafia queen who rules the streets with fear. But what initially looks like a crime network soon reveals something far darker and more disturbing.

Our review – Rani Mukerji is rock-solid and completely convincing, as always. Even when the writing starts feeling predictable and the villain lacks depth, she keeps the film watchable. Unfortunately, the preachy climax and familiar beats make Mardaani 3 feel like the weakest sequel in the franchise.
