Pankaj Tripathi has come on board for a biopic on one of India’s most loved Prime ministers.
The actor is all set to headline the biopic of India’s former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Directed by 3-time National Award winner Ravi Jadhav, the biopic is titled – Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye – Atal.
Sharing a post on Instagram, the Mirzapur actor wrote in Hindi, “‘Bharat zameen ka tukda nahi, jeeta jaagta rashtrapurush hai!'” Yeh panktiyan likhne waali mahan neta Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji ki bhumika mujhe bade parde par sakaar karne ka awsar mil raha hai, yeh main apne saubhagya manta hoon. #ATAL Jald hi”
Based on the book, The Untold Vajpayee: Politician And Paradox by Ullekh NP, the film revolves around former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s life, who was one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).
Talking about his role, Pankaj ji said in a statement–
“It’s my honour to portray such a humane politician on screen. He was not just a politician but so much more, he was an excellent writer and a renowned poet. Getting to be in his shoes is nothing but a privilege for an actor like me.”
The makers are aiming to release the movie in Christmas 2023, which also marks the 99th birth anniversary of Bharat Rana Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji.
The movie is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan & Kamlesh Bhanushali in association with 70MM Talkies and co-produced by Zeeshan Ahmad & Shivv Sharma.
