Bollywood has pitched in to ease the migrant workers plight, with celebrities like Sonu Sood and Amitabh Bachchan working tirelessly to arrange buses and facilitate safe transport.
Amitabh Bachchan has also taken it a step further by arranging for 3 charter flights to help over 500 migrants reach their homes in Varanasi. Leaving the city on June 10 and 11, these chartered Indigo Airlines Varanasi-bound flights will be transporting 180 migrants each.Â
Though initially, Big B had planned to send them home by train, the logistics didn’t come through for that. But he arranged for those flights because he did not want the workers to lose hope. He will also be making arrangements for a few more flights to help migrants reach their respective hometowns in West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu etc.
From sponsoring monthly rations for daily wage workers, to distributing masks, PPE kits as well as sanitisers to hospitals and Mumbai cops, the Samaritan Amitabh Bachchan is going strong in these tough times!
