Nawazuddin Siddiqui talks about nepotism, casting couch and #MeToo

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been in the news recently ever since his wife Aaliya sent him divorce papers. He has also been making headlines regarding the scandal of his niece Sasha Siddiqui being molested by his younger brother Minazuddin Siddiqui

In an interview with Pinkvilla during promotions of Motichoor Chaknachoor, he talked about his views on topics like – Nepotism, Casting Couch and the #MeToo Movement.

Commenting on the casting couch issue, the Sacred Games actor was of the opinion that people are trying to frame the industry and the media has just made it their habit to find nastiness in the industry for the sake of their breaking news. He said, “This has never happened with me. Jitna industry ko badnaam karne ki koshish ki ja rahi hai woh galat hai.”

He further claimed that the Industry was a safe place where even those who don’t have any status can get established. He slammed the media for being ungrateful and still talking bad about it.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s take on nepotism was that – if one has talent then they will eventually get work and respect. “Where is nepotism? I am an outsider, still I have received work that’s outside my status. People who deserve it, will get the work today or tomorrow. They need to keep patience.”

He was also of the opinion that even if a person gets work because of his father or mother, they still work hard. “If they work hard, then they will get work. If they don’t work hard then no matter the nepotism, they don’t get work.”

“Everyone says they’re talented. Forget nepotism, people who come from outside claim to be talented but can’t work their magic on camera. You need to come with training. You need to have something extraordinary in you.”

Referring to the the #MeToo Movement, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor said people who can’t find work then go ahead and abuse the industry! “Jin logon ko kaam nahi hota, woh duniya bhar ke ilzaam lagate hai industry pe, duniya bhar ke movement nikalte hai phir.”

The actor said that this is all wrong, and that there’s no other safe and beautiful place than the Industry!
