FIR Against Kangana Ranaut For ‘Anti-Farmer’ Tweet; Karnataka Court Directs Police

From ‘PoK’ remark, demolition of bungalow to allegations hurled at Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut is always in the news for her controversial statements.

Looks like one of her tweets has landed her into trouble. As per TOI, on Friday, a Karnataka Court directed the police to register an FIR against the actress for her ‘anti-farmer’ tweet!

Kangana calls farmers objecting Agri-Marketing Bills "Terrorists"

The action was taken by a complaint filed by advocate Ramesh Naik.  The complainant had filed an application under section 156(3) of the CrPC for investigation.

“My criminal case against popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut the Hon’ble Tumkur (Karnataka) JMFC [Judicial Magistrate First Class] Court directed my jurisdictional police station to register FIR. Justice to all farmers of this great country India (sic),” the advocate said in a statement after the ruling, as reported by Indian Express

The tweet in question is the one that Kangana had posted on September 21.

“People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformations about Farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation.”

When netizens had criticized her for the tweet, the actress had retaliated with, “Pappu’s Champu army can fight only on the basis of rumours”. She had said that if anyone could prove that she had called farmers as terrorists, she would apologise and quit Twitter forever.

The advocate alleged that the tweet amounted to causing provocation, hurt, enmity between groups and intentional insult.

As per Livemint report, Naik alleged that Kangana Ranaut’s tweet has a clear intention to injure the people who are opposing the farm laws, “wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riots and promote the culture of non-violence in the young minds of society.”

“….this posting on twitter account of the accused posted by her may lead to collision between the people of different group believe in different ideology. It seems that the government authorities have turned a blind eye to the same and does not have any established measures or rules and guidelines to control and regulate the same. On the bare perusal of all these content it is more than evident that the government is least bothered and as usual waiting for some dangerous consequences to happen before taking some appropriate actions,” he further added.
