Here’s a throwback to when Malaika handled her divorce like a pro and got through it maturely.
Malaika Arora was married to Arbaz Khan from 1998 all the way up to 2017 which is the year the couple got divorced. The two share a son, Arhaan Khan, and on a chat show with Kareena Kapoor, Malaika revealed her very mature way to handle a disintegrating relationship.
As per a report, Arora had told Kareena that such a big decision was not taken easily. Her loved ones and family asked her to reconsider her decision again and again but she knew what the right thing to do was. “It’s never, ever easy, like no other major decision in your life. At the end of the day, someone has to be blamed. You always have to point fingers at someone. I think that’s the general human nature to go about things.”
Getting to the intense details of her relationship, she revealed, “We did think about a lot of things and weighed every single pro and con. And then we decided, it’s better off that we move our separate ways because we’d just be better people. Because we were two people in a situation making each other extremely unhappy which was impacting everybody else’s life around us.”
Malaika continued, “Nobody really encourages you to go right ahead. Even the night before the divorce, I had my family sit with me and ask me, are you sure? I heard this all along and perhaps rightly so because these are people who worry and care for you.”
“If you are in an unhappy marriage and that’s what you decide to do you should do it with a lot of dignity, self-respect. Don’t let anybody tell you that you are any less of a woman. With me, I could sense that a lot of people were like, how the hell did you pull it off?” she added, saying that she was also lauded by some for being brave throughout the divorce.
Malaika also shared details on her son’s reaction to her divorce. “I would much rather see my child in a happy environment than be subjected to an environment that is completely disruptive. With time, my child is far more accepting. He can see that we both as individuals are far more happy than we were in our marriage. He did actually turn around one day and he did say that to me, ‘Mom, it’s good to see you happy and smiling‘.”
As of now, this beauty mogul is in quite a happy relationship with actor Arjun Kapoor and the two certainly don’t hold back from showing the world the same on their social media.
