The recent ‘Hijab Protest’ in the state of Karnataka after the government had banned the wearing of hijabs has spread like wildfire.
Javed Akhtar has tweeted on Karnataka’s hijab protest!

Taking to Twitter, the lyricist mentioned how he’s not in favour of the hijab or burkha compulsion but feels deep contempt for those who are trying to intimidate young girls.

The tweet reads, “I have never been in favour of Hijab or Burqa. I still stand by that but at the same time I have nothing but deep contempt for these mobs of hooligans who are trying to intimidate a small group of girls and that too unsuccessfully. Is this their idea of “MANLINESS”. What a pity.”
Apart from Akhtar, other celebrities like Kamal Haasan, Richa Chadha, Swara Bhasker amongst others have spoken out on the issue!
