Anubhav Sinha‘s upcoming directorial Anek, starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, will release on 27 May 2022.
The filmmaker will now produce the biopic based on the life of freedom fighter Usha Mehta under his banner Benaras Media Works.
Directed by National Award winning filmmaker Ketan Mehta (Mangal Pandey – The Rising, Manjhi – The Mountain Man fame), Usha Mehta biopic has been titled – Freedom Radio. The cast details are kept under wraps.
“Set in the pre-independence era, the film’s narrative captures a forgotten but crucial chapter in Indian freedom struggle, the ‘Quit India movement’,” Ketan told a daily.
Who Is Usha Mehta?
The veteran hero was famous for running an underground radio station – called Congress Radio, to amplify the Quit India movement. She was an expert in Gandhian thought and philosophy. Usha Mehta authored many essays and books in English and Gujarati.
She had passed away at the age of 80 on 11 August, 2000.
