A brief yet delightful teaser of Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies was released recently.
In a recent media interaction, Zoya responded to the trolling targeting The Archies cast and accusing them of being too white.
A tweet saying – “Zoya Akhtar has finally made something that we always wanted to be – white people.” – had gone viral recently.
Replying to the criticism, Zoya told Midday – “Well, they are all Indians (on the screen), this is kind of reverse. Are you saying fair [skinned] people aren’t Indians? How do we define what an Indian looks like? It could be Hrithik Roshan. It could be Mr Rajinikanth, Diljit Dosanjh, or Mary Kom. That’s the beauty of India.”
The Archies is coming soon on Netflix; the exact release date is awaited. The cast includes Aditi Dot., Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda.
