Kartik Aaryan clinched the title of Best Actor (Male) for his outstanding portrayal in Freddy at the OTTPlays Awards 2023 ceremony recently.
Kartik Aaryan’s journey post Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2022 was nothing short of a triumph in various aspects. At a recent awards gala, he was bestowed with the prestigious Best Actor award, celebrating his remarkable performance in Freddy. His success was further accentuated by the acclaim received for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and his surprising transformation in the role of Freddy.
Kartik garnered significant attention with back-to-back releases like Shehzada and Satyaprem Ki Katha, but it was his portrayal in “Freddy” that earned him this esteemed accolade.

Taking to his social media, Kartik expressed gratitude for the win for one of his most different films that featured him in a grey character for the first time.
He wrote, “Best Actor – Freddy 🖤 A Character that challenged me mentally and physically (Gained around 15 kgs jisko ghataane mein ab Band baj rahi hai 😭 ) Acknowledgements like these validate the twisted choices I make sometimes! Thank you HT and the fans for honouring the underdog called Freddy! Plus i would like to share this award with My Hardy 🐢😘“
The actor looked dapper as ever in a dark green suit and black sweater for the awards. He also shared a series of stills from the film that truly portrayed his strong potential as a versatile actor, along with his pet turtle in the film, Hardy.
In his acceptance speech, Kartik Aaryan expressed his gratitude for the award, emphasizing the importance of “Freddy” in his career.
Freddy Was The 1st Time I Played A Grey Character – Says Kartik
He said – “Freddy was a very important film for me. I would firstly like to thank my director, Shashanka Ghosh sir. He worked with me very patiently on this film. Jayu who kept on believing in this first. Third is Ekta Kapoor, who supported and produced the film. Freddy is a special film. It was the first time I played a grey character through the film. I was working in comic roles and doing romantic films for the longest time. Freddy was one film where I could play a different character. I am extremely thankful that the script came to me. Also, thanks to Alaya for being a supportive co-star. She is also getting a lot of awards for her performance in the film. I’m really happy for her and I’d like to thank Hardy, the film’s lead turtle.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kartik Aaryan is gearing up for Chandu Champion and Aashiqui 3 amongst many other announced projects.
