Backed by Yash Raj Films, the upcoming movie will feature the actress, who impressed audiences as Vaani in the romantic drama.
Interestingly, Maneesh Sharma—best known for his recent work in action-thrillers—will be returning to the romance genre as the director of this film.
According to a report, filmmaker Aditya Chopra is keeping a close eye on the careers of the two rising stars, a source confirmed. The massive success of Saiyaara positioned Aneet as a Gen-Z romantic lead, making her the perfect fit for Maneesh Sharma’s upcoming love story, as per Aditya’s vision. The yet-untitled film is currently in its pre-production phase. With this project, Sharma is expected to return to the genre that first brought him acclaim. After establishing his name with Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) and Shuddh Desi Romance (2013), the director shifted to larger-scale ventures, including Fan (2016) with Shah Rukh Khan and Tiger 3 (2023) featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
According to another insider, Maneesh Sharma’s upcoming film will stay true to the storytelling style that defined his earlier work. The source mentioned that Sharma has a flair for capturing youthful narratives. Set in Punjab, the project is still finalizing its male lead, with filming scheduled to commence in mid-2026.
Aneet Padda and her Saiyaara co-star Ahaan Panday are being touted as the breakout stars of 2025, making this announcement particularly noteworthy.
