The loudest cheer of the evening was reserved for Shah Rukh Khan, who took home his very first National Award after more than three decades of being Bollywood’s biggest star. He shared the Best Actor honour with Vikrant Massey, who stunned audiences with his performance in 12th Fail. SRK’s win came for Jawan, a film that had both critics and fans raving.
Dressed in a classic black bandhgala, the superstar looked every inch the king, and the historic moment left his fans overwhelmed. Massey, in a crisp white bandhgala, seemed visibly moved as he accepted the award that cements his place among the finest actors of his generation.
Adding even more grace to the evening was Rani Mukerji, who won Best Actress for her stirring role in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.
