EXCLUSIVE – Jaya Kishori on Spirituality: Is There a Right or Wrong Way?

Jaya Kishori, the well-known spiritual speaker, singer, and motivational guide, recently sat down with Instant Bollywood to talk about a question many of us secretly wonder about – is there a right or wrong way to approach spirituality?

EXCLUSIVE – Jaya Kishori on Spirituality: Is There a Right or Wrong Way?

During the chat, she explained an idea she’s mentioned before: people often turn to spirituality for two very different reasons. “One, when you feel deeply grateful and want to thank the universe, the Lord. And two, when you feel very negative in life and you need it,” she’d said. But is one approach better than the other? Jaya Kishori believes both have their place.

“Both have their own reasons. Spirituality isn’t something you ‘adopt.’ You are spiritual. Everybody here is spiritual. It’s just that sometimes when dust gathers on a mirror, you can’t see your reflection. You have to clean it,” she said.

She likens spirituality to that mirror we all carry inside ourselves. For some, the mirror is already clean, so they naturally feel “Oh, I am spiritual.” For others, it may be dusty, and they think, “I am not spiritual; I need to become spiritual.” But the truth, according to her, is that we are all inherently spiritual, we just need to wipe away that dust.

Jaya Kishori also shared her personal experience. She grew up in a household where spirituality was woven into everyday life.

“I didn’t even realize that what was happening in my home environment was spirituality. From childhood, I was taught scriptures, I did bhajans and kirtans, naam jap, chanting. These things happened regularly in my home. Back then, I didn’t understand the impact. I only realized it when problems came into my life and I was able to face them so well. That’s when my parents explained, ‘This is because of spirituality,’” she said.

For her, spirituality isn’t a phase or a sudden transformation, it’s a lifestyle. Being spiritual since childhood gave her the tools to face life’s challenges with calm and clarity.

In the end, Jaya Kishori’s message is simple, relatable, and comforting… everyone is spiritual at heart. One just needs to wipe the dust off the mirror!
