Ayan Mukerji Steps Away From Dhoom 4, To Focus On Brahmastra 2
Okay, Bollywood lovers, this one’s a little surprising… Ayan Mukerji has reportedly stepped away from Dhoom 4! Yep, the director who gave us Brahmastra and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was all set to take the reins of Yash Raj Films’ mega action franchise.

But according to Bollywood Hungama, things didn’t exactly go as planned with the War 2 director. Apparently, Ayan and YRF couldn’t see eye-to-eye on the creative direction of Dhoom 4. The film, which was expected to star Ranbir Kapoor (yes, the same duo behind Brahmastra and Wake Up Sid), seems to have hit a creative speed bump.
A source told the portal that Ayan didn’t have much control over the script and wasn’t keen on being just a director-for-hire again. Basically, the guy wanted to create, not just follow a pre-set script.
As the source explained, “Ayan believes that films like War 2 and Dhoom 4 were never meant for him. He wants to make films that have a wider scope for romance, drama, and storytelling — along with spectacle.”
The script for Dhoom 4 has reportedly been penned by Shridhar Raghavan, while Ayan was only attached as director to bring that vision to life. But that’s just not his vibe.
Ayan Mukerji To Focus On Brahmastra 2 Instead
Before walking away, Ayan apparently had long, heartfelt chats with YRF head Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. Both were super understanding and totally supported his choice. No drama, just mutual respect all around.
So what’s next? Ayan is now diving back into his passion project: Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev! The sequel to his 2022 fantasy blockbuster is set to go on floors in 2026. Looks like Ayan’s sticking to what he loves best… grand stories, big emotions, and a touch of magic.
