Shraddha Kapoor has started filming Eetha, director Laxman Utekar’s upcoming biographical drama inspired by the life of the late Tamasha and Lavani icon, Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
The film, by Maddock Films, will bring to life the story of one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated folk artists. His contribution to Indian theatre and traditional dance remains unparalleled.
The title Eetha is derived from Vithabai’s affectionate nickname, “Vitha,” symbolizing both her strength and her spirit. The project aims to capture her incredible journey through the world of Tamasha — a form of Marathi folk theatre that blends dance, music, and storytelling — while highlighting the personal struggles and triumphs that defined her legacy.
