In an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, Sooraj opened up about the emotional toll the legal battle took on him and how he managed to stay grounded during those years.
For those unaware, in April 2023, a CBI court acquitted Sooraj in the case related to his girlfriend Jiah Khan’s abetment of suicide. The court cited lack of evidence and Sooraj was cleared of all charges.

It was not an easy journey for the actor, especially since the case began when he was just in his early twenties. Speaking about those challenging times, he shared –
“I think everything happens for a reason. Maybe God wanted to test me so I’d be stronger for tougher times ahead. I think every experience, whether it’s the smallest or the biggest, only teaches you, you just get better as a person. You get stronger and stronger.”
Sooraj shared that while it was impossible to completely avoid judgment, he focused on keeping his mind and body busy. By following a balanced routine and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, he managed to keep stress in check and stay grounded through the tough times.
In times of uncertainty, Sooraj leaned on his close circle of childhood friends. Having their constant support made a huge difference.
“Childhood friends were always with me. I have very few friends. Just 10-12 friends only, but they were always there—no judgment, nothing.”
